Blog are widely used by public as a communication tools to share their thought and interest. Nowadays, people blog about almost everything. Some will be posting on the area of lifestyle or sports while others giving opinion on their politics view. Johnson (2012) state that, in the U.S there are estimation of 31 million bloggers as at July 2012. According to Technorati (2011), U.S still hold about half of the blogging stats.

In Middle East blogging are more on politics and daily lives journal. However in Asia, blog are more towards entertainment based. Most of the Asian blogs are entertainment, lifestyle, politics and daily lives journal. In Malaysia, Gaman (2007) found out that 28% of Malaysian Blogger post on personal stuff such as daily lives journal, foods and lifestyle. 16% of the Malaysian Blogger post about politics issue and another 16% post about technologies.
Blogging Benefits
Beside using blog as the media of sharing personal information and experience, blog can also be use by company to promote new product and even do online selling through blog. The exist of experience sharing blog allows newbies to have a basic idea on the particular interest. It also able public to share experience among themselves. In Malaysia, political blog plays important role in political scene for public to have better view as we have strict control on mainstream media.

Good info overall, but add concepts like blog and new media ecosystem to show blog's contribution to society & trad. media.
